Project: 1968 Chevelle

  Project: 1985 Camaro Z28
Description: This 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is a long-term Street Thunder project car owned by Street Thunder Senior Editor Eric Anderson. Eric began modifying this car nine years ago with the goal of creating a capable street car first and a well-performing track car second. His interest in turning corners and braking has led to a number of suspension and chassis modifications as well as the addition of a C5 Corvette brake system, all of which have made the car a solid performer both on and off track.
The drivetrain in Eric’s bright red Camaro consists of a 396ci LT1 V-8, which made a street friendly 552-horsepower and 484 ft.-lbs. of torque at the flywheel, and a T56 six-speed transmission, both of which help set it apart from other third generation F-Bodies. The SS style hood, ’91-’92 Z28 ground effects and rear spoiler, and the ZR1-style wheels give this car an updated look.Plans call for exhaust and brake system refinements as well as a few interior upgrades, including gauges, seats, and safety restraints (five-point harnesses).

Project: 1962 Dynamic 88 Oldsmobile

Description: This 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88, once finished, will ooze style from every seam on the body. Although currently stock, except for a modern 200-4R automatic transmission, project plans include adding engine upgrades, a performance air suspension system, disc brakes, a custom interior, and a performance wheel/tire package. Planned body modifications include shaving the door handles and badging, and painting the car dark gray metallic.
The ultimate goal for this Oldsmobile is to transform a ’60s luxury sedan into a ’60s custom touring sedan that breaks the mold of large, boat-like street machines by complementing an undeniably cool four-door look with modern wheels, capable brakes, and performance suspension components.

  Project: 2005 Chrysler 300C
Description: This 2005 Chrysler 300C is a performance sedan/modern muscle car that is going to showcase real aftermarket parts that can improve the handling and performance allowing it to play with others at the track. With performance as a priority, form will follow function.
Upgrades for this project car will be focused on three areas:_drivetrain, wheels/tires/brakes/suspension, and exterior appearance. The long-term goal is to improve all phases of the car without losing its identity or daily driver reliability. The emerging aftermarket for the new Chrysler Hemi engine and the LX-platform will make this project possible, and its development will be tracked with performance data collected before and after the modifications. Few modern cars have the potential to excel as traditional full-size muscle cars with comfortable seating for four or more, but the Chrysler 300C certainly qualifies.

Project: 2004 Pontiac GTO

Description: This is Shawn's daily summer driver. The 2004 GTO is a new version of the original, nostalgic muscle car. At stock, the car was rated at 350 horsepower. However, the owner had aspirations of a faster, meaner automobile. We installed a stainless works long-tubed headers, CNC ported heads, and a larger cam.
